<abstract displayLabel="Summary">En 2023, le solde des caisses de retraites était positif en France. Cela signifie que le montant des cotisations perçues était supérieur aux pensions versées. Le système de retraite par répartition appliqué en France est régulièrement remis en cause et réformé depuis sa mise en place par le Conseil national de la Résistance (CNR) à la fin de la seconde guerre mondiale. Le fonctionnement par répartition repose sur le principe de solidarité entre les générations : les actifs versent chaque mois des cotisations aux caisses de retraite, qui les redistribuent aux retraités actuels, contrairement au fonctionnement par capitalisation, où chacun cotise pour soi-même</abstract>
