Multiple work demands and early retirement intention in Germany : a cross-sectional and longitudinal analysis / Arthur Kaboth and Sophie-Charlotte Meyer
Sumario: This research article analyses the relationship between multiple physical and psychosocial work demands and employees' preferences for early retirement in Germany. Using data from five waves (20152023) of the BAuA Working Time Survey, the study applies cross-sectional and longitudinal regression models to examine how cumulative job demands influence retirement intentions among older workers. The results show that multiple psychosocial work demands are consistently associated with a higher preference for early retirement, while physical demands play a weaker role once unobserved individual differences are controlled for. The findings highlight the importance of sustainable working conditions and job quality for extending working lives in ageing societies
