Critical infrastructure, drainage systems, public services and transport networks can amplify losses when a single event simultaneously affects numerous assets. Insured losses from natural disasters have exceeded $100 billion annually since 2020 and could reach $148 billion by 2026. They set out four priorities to boost this resilience: improving data and territorial risk assessment, developing funding mechanisms, establishing metrics to assess resilience, and integrating the benefits that these investments generate for different stakeholders1.
