<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Las organizaciones empresariales que adoptan una estrategia de considerar al conjunto de la organización como un sistema que precisa ser optimizado y a partir de ello emprenden acciones encaminadas a ese fín descubren que, con el tiempo, están en condiciones de crear bienes y servicios en mayor número y con mayor calidad utilizando menos recursos. Además, la relación con los proveedores, empleados y clientes se hace más satisfactoria. En el presente artículo, se exploran algunos de los factores que han llevado a la necesidad de formalizar actividades de mejora continua, se describen los conceptos clave de esta estrategia y se propone un modelo útil para las organizaciones que deseen seguirla</abstract>
