Título: Modelling of respirable dust concentrations in brickworks with a multiple cell ventilation model as an expedient for control measures / E. Buringh, R. Van De Belt and J.F. Van Der WalAutor: Buringh, E.
Notas: Sumario: This paper describes a case study where a multiple cell model is used to predict airborne concentrations in enclusures and to show how the predictions can be used to devise a control strategy. The case concerns two brickworks in the Netherlands. With a quartz content of approximately 15% in the respirable dust, the respirable dust concentrations should not exceed the value of 1 mg m exp.(-3). The model is shown to give reasonable estimates of ambient respirable dust concentrations in different situations. The effectiveness of control measures can also be estimated and the importance of good housekeeping is demonstrated. The model is restricted to ambient concentrations: when there is a good correlation between personal nad ambient concentrations it could be used to predict personal exposures. The model is also used to simulate "worst case" conditions with low ventilation rates, and to evaluate the effectiveness of controls under these conditionsRegistros relacionados: En: The Annals of occupational hygiene. - Oxford [etc.]. - nº 5, October 1990 ; p. 499-507Materia / lugar / evento: Higiene industrial Contaminantes químicos Polvo Procesos industriales Materiales de construcción Ladrillos Contaminación atmosférica Control de la contaminación Casos prácticos Ventilación Métodos de control Holanda Otros autores: Belt, R. van de
