<abstract>The U. S. Departament of Labor (DOL) defines a musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) as "injury or disorder of the muscles, nervers, tendons, joints, cartilage and spinal column". Such strains and sprains represent the leading cause of injury and illness in U. S. industry. They account for 31 percent of the days that employees spend away from work if they have been on the job for less than one year, according to the DOL</abstract>
