<dc:description xml:lang="es">Sumario: In 1974, consequent on the earlier recommendations of a Royal Commission examining the desirability of improving the then Workers' Compensation legislation, New Zealand introduced what many have hailed as an epoch-making scheme providing earnings-related compensation for all accident victims. The Commission, realizing a need to abandon the rather eneven common law rights, was convinced that there had to be some compensatory measure, hence the 24-h compensation cover.
