<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Es un hecho constatado el importante crecimiento de la economía española en las últimas décadas y las considerables transformaciones económicas y sociales que se han deriviado, lo que se ha plasmado en un proceso de convergencia con los países más desarrollados de la Unión Europea muy significativo. No obstante, hay coincidencia en señalar que el progreso español en cuanto a la producción y uso de innovaciones no ha sido tan sobresaliente, siendo este aspecto uno de los rasgos estructurales que más lastra el avance de nuestra productividad y competitividad internacional.</abstract>
