<abstract displayLabel="Summary">En el año 2000 la necesidad de establecer un marco comunitario para la protección de las aguas continentales, de transición, costeras y subterráneas, para prevenir o reducir su contaminación, promover su uso sostenible, proteger el medio ambiente, mejorar el estado de los ecosistemas acuáticos, y atenuar los efectos de las inundaciones y sequías hicieron necesario elaborar y publicar la Directiva Marco del Agua (2000/60/CE)</abstract>
