El espectacular alargamiento de la longevidad , la brutal contracción de la natialidad y el gran retraso de la entrada a la vida labooral configuran una nueva estructura de pirámide poblacional, en realidad una pirámide invertida, verdaderamente ancha por arriba y cada vez más estremecedoramente estrecha por abajo. convivivr con esta situación será, sin lugar a dudas , uno de los grandes retos del Siglo XXI, por no decir el gran reto, que nos lleva a afirmar que las pensiones y envejecimiento poblacional seá el desafío con mayúsculas de esa futura Unión Euroea, y aquí los actuarios tenemos una gran responsabilidad sobre cómo enfocar y facilitar soluciones realistas y pragmáticas a este tema</abstract>
