<abstract displayLabel="Summary">En la actualidad la mayor parte de las actividades de los agentes económicos y de las personas están aseguradas mediante algun tipo de póliza. Tal hecho, que hoy consideramos normal y en el que están involucrados bancos, compañías y, sobre todo, muchos corredores y mediadores de seguros, nació en el mundo mediterráneo a fines de la Edad Media con el surgimiento del seguro a prima. Inicialmente su origen fue en el ámbito marítimo, con el fin de cubrir los riesgos del comercio internacional, para extenderse más tarde a los reaseguros y a los seguros de vida. </abstract>
