<abstract displayLabel="Summary">La Unión Europea ha criticado el carácter legal del desembolso en concepto de Impuesto sobre las Ventas Minoristas de Determinados Hidrocarburos (IVMDH) que el sector del transporte por carretera viene realizando en los últimos años, particularmente desde el año 2005. El presente artículo indaga en las características legales del IVMDH, también conocido como céntimo sanitario, la recaudación de las Autonomías en este concepto y el coste que ha supuesto para el sector profesional del transporte por carretera, así como el importe que podría ser devuelto a estas empresas dependiendo de su flota de vehículos y de la Autonomía en la que operen. </abstract>
