<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The insurance industry in China is developing rapidly and risk management has never been more important. With increasing volatility and severity of risk events in China, as well as the increasingly globalised Chinese economy, the C-ROSS (China Risk Oriented Solvency System) development is not only timely, but comes at a critical time for the industry. It is hoped that companies will become more aware of risk management and how to develop practices to meet C-ROSS requirements. More importantly, companies should not treat risk management as a mere compliance exercise, as it should form part of a company's strategy in developing its business going forward. The Towers Watson 2013 Risk Management Healthcheck survey indicated companies have significant room for improvement in their risk management practices, and given the rapid expect risk management practices to improve significantly over a relatively short timeframe</abstract>
