<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Este artículo describe el fenómeno de las tormentas geomagnéticas y sus efectos en los recursos tecnológicos y presenta pautas de actuación que pueden permitir a las empresas, instituciones oficiales y servicios públicos más vulnerables ante este fenómeno adoptar medidas de urgencia destinadas a evitar o reducir los daños. El problema es estudiado en su contexto más amplio: la Meteorología Espacial (Space Weather). De esta manera se puede alcanzar una mejor comprensión de los diferentes fenómenos físicos relacionados con las tormentas y facilitar la explicación de este fenómeno a los agentes sociales y al público en general</abstract>
