<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Este artículo describe la evolución de las competencias numéricas y de comprensión lectora de la población a lo largo de su vida. También se analizan los cambios que de forma simultánea ocurren en la participación laboral y en la formación continua, así como en el tipo de trabajo que se realiza a partir de los 50 años de edad. Con ese fin, el análisis tiene en cuenta el nivel educativo, el sector y el tamaño empresarial en el que se sitúa este colectivo de trabajadores en España y en el área del euro.</abstract>
