<dc:description xml:lang="es">Sumario: Insured losses due to extreme weather events have reached unprecedented levels and threaten to destabilise the global household insurance market. Localised risks, such as floods, forest fires and severe convective storms, already account for around 50% of total insured losses worldwide. This increase in risk coincides with growing pressure on the affordability of insurance. The problem is not only economic, but also structural. Many building codes are outdated or not effectively enforced at the local level; critical infrastructure lacks maintenance; and urban development in areas of interface with nature (such as forest edges) significantly increases fire risk</dc:description>
