In the dental segment, 2025 saw moderate growth in the number of policyholders and in premiums, with an improvement in the claims ratio thanks to higher rates; in 2026, moderate growth and stable results are expected, also supported by investment income. Demand for optical cover remains stable and profitability is good. Regulatory developments (ratification by the NCOIL of the dental MLR in 2024 and new state initiatives in 2025) may affect product design, pricing and profitability. Regulation of the STLDI remains uncertain and varies from state to state. AM Best will continue to monitor the regulatory implications in 2026.
