This paper examines how improved data analytics and information gathering processes affect the organizational structure and growth of insurance companies when information acquisition is costly. It explores the complexity of designing complete insurance contracts under correlated policyholder information and limited managerial abilities. The study shows that advances in information technology, such as artificial intelligence and deep learning, reduce the need for hierarchical layers, lower overhead costs, and enable insurers to increase size and scope. Theoretical models and examples illustrate how technology-driven efficiency can lead to flatter organizational structures and enhanced profitability.
