<abstract displayLabel="Summary">El siguiente artículo trata en profundidad el tema de las privatizaciones en los antiguos países de economía de planificación central. Tras recoger las distintas teorías existentes sobre el concepto de propiedad, se centra en la enumeración de los distintos objetivos de la privatización tanto económicos com políticos y sociales. Entre ellos, cabe destacar la búsqueda de una mayor eficacia económica, no siempre lograda; la reducción del papel del Estado en la economía, en especial su papel del productor; la creación de un accionariado popular y el incremento de los ingresos del Estado para reducir el déficit público. Posteriormente, distingue entre los diferentes grados de privatización según la naturaleza de los agentes económicos y según el tamaño de la empresa y expone las distintas técnicas de privatización utilizadas para, finalmente, hacer un balance del resultado de los distintos procesos de privatización actualmente en curso</abstract>
