<abstract displayLabel="Summary">Muchas personas que trabajan en tareas relacionadas con el hombre desconocen la antropometría como una vía para lograr el acomodo de los objetos que utilizará en el entorno donde desarrolle su actividad a sus dimensiones corporales. En este artículo se muestran algunos casos en los que se ha utilizado la información antropométrica con estos fines y se destaca la importancia de su consideración en la evitación de los accidentes del trabajo y de las enfermedades profesionales. Se hace referencia, además, a las bases de datos antropométricas disponibles en Cuba y en el mundo y a la necesidad de crear una base de datos de la población cubana. Se exponen las ventajas de utilizar el vídeo para estos fines y las experiencias obtenidas hasta el momento en la Facultad de Ingeniería Industrial del Instituto Superior Politécnico "José Antonio Echevarría"</abstract>
