<abstract displayLabel="Summary">The study presents an overview of the underlying issues and the steps that are being taken or are likely to be taken to address and that are seen to be arising, with an emphasis on the role the private sector, insurance companies in particular, are likely to play in developing solutions. The principal focus is on retirement savings and income, which is perhaps the social security program most frequently expected to be privatized on a large and growing scale. Government retirement savings and income benefits are a very large part of total social welfare expenditures. Too, this is in area with which the private sector has had much experience and success</abstract>
