<abstract displayLabel="Summary">En este artículo se exponen los resultados de una encuesta sobre una muestra adulta de la CAV (Gran Bilbao). Los sujetos contestaron sobre la catástrofe más importante de su vida. La mitad de los encuestados, aproximadamente, habían sido testigos o participado en un hecho traumático que afectaba a una colectividad. El miedo, el enfado y conductas colectivas de ayuda y escape eran frecuentes. Los entrevistados informaban haber utilizado estrategias de afrontamiento racionales y de autocontrol, más que de evitación y de falta de adaptaciones. Los síntomas de reminescencia, evitación, hiperreactividad e insensibilidad se presentaban asociados a la catástrofe con una frecuencia baja-media</abstract>
