<abstract>Este informe general trata de los mecanismos financieros de compensación alternativos para la cobertura de responsabilidades medioambientales. La necesidad de buscar sistemas de financiación alternativos deriva de las deficiencias del sistema general de ley y seguro de responsabilidad. Este sistema ha demostrado no ser totalmente satisfactorio para asegurar la indemnización de daños personales, daños materiales y costes de reposición resultantes de la contaminación y de otros efectos perjudiciales sobre el Medio Ambiente</abstract>
