<abstract>El artículo hace un balance de lo que ha supuesto para la economía española su integración en la Unión Europea a la luz de los cambios estructurales que dicha integración ha traído consigo. Tras identificar las principales luces, y también algunas sombras, de nuestra andadura europea, el artículo concluye examinando los retos principales que la economía española debe superar para aprovechar al máximo las ventajas potenciales que le reporta su pertenencia al área monetaria común</abstract>
