<abstract>El estudio pretende alcanzar tres objetivos. En primer lugar, poner de manifiesto que el sector exterior de la economía española, como el de cualquier economía desarrollada, debe ser analizada a través de dos documentos: la balanza de pagos y la posición de inversión internacional. En segundo lugar, señalar que existen dos restriciones, una real y otra financiera, que afectan al ritmo de crecimiento de la economía. Y, en tercer lugar, subrayar la importancia de aumentar la exportación de bienes y de mantener el equilibrio presupuestario, precisamente para orillar las dos restricciones mencionadas</abstract>
