<abstract>Se analizan las operaciones de crecimiento externo, alianzas y adquisiciones, emitidas y recibidas en el sector industrial español entre 1988 y 2005. Las principales conclusiones obtenidas son las siguientes: las operaciones recibidas se mantienen constantes mientras que las emitidas han crecido hasta igualarlas; la Unión Europea ha acaparado el grueso de las operaciones; la expansión hacia países emergentes de alto crecimiento fuera de Latinoamérica es menor de lo deseable; y la última de las conclusiones es que en los últimos años no se aprecia reducción en las operaciones recibidas en los sectores de media o alta intensidad tecnológica.</abstract>
