<abstract>En este trabajo se revisan las razones de la insistencia sobre el error humano y se analiza el porqué es una de las principales "barreras de cristal" de la prevención en la medida en que su "hallazgo", en cualquier accidente, constituye el principal inhibidor para realizar una prevenvión efectiva, ya que supone renunciar a no pasar de planteamientos entre obvios y banales. Se intenta demostrar que las propiedades del "error humano"de inmediatez, internalidad, inestabilidad, lo convierten en prácticamente incontrolable. Como alternativa se propone definir las características de las causas de los accidentes para que sean controlables y posibiliten una prevención efectiva</abstract>
