520  ‎$a‎This scientific article investigates how environmental exposures and genetic factors jointly influence aging, biological deterioration and premature mortality. Using data from nearly half a million UK Biobank participants, the study identifies 25 key environmental exposures that independently affect mortality and proteomic aging, surpassing the explanatory power of genetics. It shows how socioeconomic status, smoking, physical activity, sleep, early-life factors and ethnicity shape patterns of disease and aging. Results highlight that environmental influences explain substantially more variation in mortality than polygenic risk scores
